Die Rose von Stambul is a German operetta and revue film by director Karl Anton from 1953. It is based on the operetta of the same name by Leo Fall from 1916, the plot being moved to the present.
action
Mehemed Pascha wants his niece Kondja, who lives in Vienna, to marry the diplomat Achmed Bey, who is also there and who is still unknown to her. For her part, the niece worships a composer she does not know personally. The unexpected death of the pasha causes them, like Achmed, to return to Turkey. The will states that the two have to enter into a temporary marriage. So they get involved and experience that they really love each other, especially since it turns out that Achmed and the composer, admired by Kondja, are one and the same person. Of course, Kondja's uncle, who only faked his death, agrees with this bridegroom.
Production in notes
The film was shot in the Berlin-Tempelhof studio. The exterior shots were made in Istanbul. The buildings were created by Erich Kettelhut and Max Vorwerg . The singers are Herbert Ernst Groh , Ursula Ackermann , Kurt Reimann and Rasma Ducat . The Egon Kaiser Orchestra and the FFB Orchestra will play . The premiere took place on May 7, 1953 at the Aegi in Hanover.
criticism
"Confusion, kitschy oriental romance and lush harem ladies in a 'modernized' film adaptation of the operetta by Leo Fall."
