Dieter Ehrhardt (Admiral)
Dieter Ehrhardt (born May 14, 1927 in Kiel ) is a retired German Rear Admiral . D. of the German Navy and last worked from 1985 to 1987 as Commander of the Schleswig-Holstein Territorial Command / German Authorized Officer in the Allied Forces Northern Europe (AFNORTH) division.
Military career
Ehrhardt was born the son of naval officer Werner Ehrhardt . He was an air force helper from February 1943 to June 1944 and completed his national labor service at the same time . In October 1944 he then joined the Navy as a trainee officer . Two months later he finished his recruiting training before completing the on-board training.
After a short imprisonment, Ehrhardt worked as a trainee in agriculture from July 1945, which was followed by a two-year service with the German Minesweeping Administration and the Cuxhaven mine clearing association . From January 1949 to March 1956 Ehrhardt was a member of the British Baltic Fishery Protection Service of the Royal Navy . In this association Ehrhardt became the commander of a speedboat in April 1953 .
Ehrhardt followed his father in the family tradition and joined the German Navy in April 1956 as an ensign at sea . He completed his training with crew I / 56. In July 1958 he was promoted to torpedo officer of the destroyer 1 , whereupon Ehrhardt took over command of the speedboat Storch in March 1960 . In July 1962 Ehrhardt became a group officer at the Mürwik Naval School . From October 1964 to September 1966 he completed the 6th ASTO course at the command and control academy of the German Armed Forces , Naval Academy, whereupon from October 1966 to December 1969 he took over the position of assistant in the personnel department of the Federal Ministry of Defense . In February 1970 Ehrhardt was appointed commander of the destroyer Lütjens . In addition to this activity, he was used from September 9, 1972 to October 1, 1972 as commander of the destroyer Mölders . From October 1972 to December 1976 Ehrhardt took over the destroyer flotilla as A3 staff officer .
In January 1977 Ehrhardt began his attaché training, whereupon he took up his service as a naval attaché in Washington, DC , USA in September (1977–1979) with the rank of sea captain .
In April 1979 Ehrhardt was promoted to Flotilla Admiral in command of the Mürwik Naval School . In October 1982 he was appointed Commander of the North Sea Naval Forces and in January 1985 as Rear Admiral as Commander of the Schleswig-Holstein Territorial Command / German Plenipotentiary in the AFNORTH area.
Ehrhardt retired in 1987.
