Dieter Willmann (born January 4, 1963 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a former German ice hockey player who played in the Bundesliga for the EHC Freiburg , the Schwenninger ERC , the Düsseldorfer EG and the Mannheim ERC .

Player career

Willmann began his career at the age of 14 with the Freiburg team, for whom he made his first appearances in the second division in the 1980/81 season . With the EHC, Willmann rose to the ice hockey Bundesliga in 1981 and 1983 , via SV Bayreuth and EC Bad Nauheim he finally moved to Schwenninger ERC during the 1985/86 season , for which he was on the ice in the 1st Bundesliga until 1989 was standing. After one and a half years with Düsseldorfer EG, with which he became German champion in 1990 , Willmann moved to Mannheim ERC. After the founding of the DEL , the striker played for another year for the newly outsourced professional team of the MERC, the Adler Mannheim , before ending his professional career.

Dieter Willmann became the first DEB cup winner with the ERC Freiburg. Special moments in his career were his participation in the Spengler Cup in Davos with the Mannheim ERC and his goal at the "Epson Cup 1990" in Düsseldorf when Willmann scored a goal against the St. Louis Blues .

International

For the German national ice hockey team , Dieter Willmann played the 1990 World Cup , in which the team finished seventh. This made him the first ice hockey world championship participant born in Freiburg.
