The Dinan Communauté is a former French community association with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Département Côtes-d'Armor , whose administrative seat was in the town of Dinan . Its catchment area was in the east of the department. The community association founded in 1963 consisted of 26 communities and has 47,336 inhabitants (as of 2013) on an area of 299.77 km².

Historical development

The former communauté was the oldest association of communes in Brittany. It came into being in 1963 as a district with little authority. At that time only the seven parishes of Aucaleuc, Dinan, Lanvallay, Léhon, Quévert, Taden and Trélivan belonged to it. In 1988 this district received more powers. In 1994, the membership increased to twelve municipalities through the accession of the municipalities of La Vicomté-sur-Rance, Pleudihen-sur-Rance, Saint-Samson-sur-Rance, Saint-Hélen and Vildé-Guingalan. Just one year later, with Bobital, Brusvily, Calorguen, Le Hinglé, Saint-Carné and Trévron, a further six municipalities joined the association. On December 31, 1999, the district was renamed Communauté de Communes de Dinan (CODI). His responsibilities have been expanded continuously over the years. At the beginning of 2014, CODI accepted the eight municipalities of the previous community association Communauté de Communes du Pays d'Évran . The community was therefore given the new name Dinan Communauté.

With effect from January 1, 2017, the community association merged with the Communauté de communes du Pays de Caulnes and the Communauté de communes Plancoët-Plélan and thus formed the successor organization Dinan Agglomération .

Tasks of the community association

Since the majority of the municipalities were very small and had mayors (maires) as a secondary office, the communauté was responsible for various tasks of the municipalities involved. There were six commissions and four working groups (e.g. for environmental protection, sport, economic development, garbage collection, etc.) which were active across the community.

Former member parishes

The Dinan Communauté belonged to all communes of the cantons Dinan-Est and Évran , the commune of Vildé-Guingalan of the canton Plélan-le-Petit and with the exception of Plouër-sur-Rance all communes of the canton Dinan-Ouest . The member communities were:
