The El Porvenir district is located in the Trujillo Province in the La Libertad region of western Peru . The district was established on January 8, 1965. The 36.7 km² district had 190,461 inhabitants at the 2017 census. In 1993 the population was 80,698, in 2007 140,507. The district is congruent with the 90 m high northern suburb of the regional capital Trujillo El Porvenir .
Geographical location
The El Porvenir district is located at the foot of the mountains of the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the desert coastal plain of northwestern Peru. It borders the Trujillo and Florencia de Mora districts to the south, the La Esperanza district to the west, the Huanchaco district to the north and the Laredo district to the east .
