The Huamanquiquia district is located in the Víctor Fajardo Province in the Ayacucho region in south-central Peru . The district has an area of 72.5 km². The 2017 census counted 1138 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1170, in 2007 it was 1271. The district administration is located in the 3350 m high village of Huamanquiquia with 513 inhabitants (as of 2017). Huamanquiquia is located about 22 km west of the provincial capital Huancapi .
Geographical location
The district of Huamanquiquia is located in the Andean highlands west-central in the province of Víctor Fajardo. The Río Caracha flows north along the western district boundary and flows into the eastward flowing Río Pampas in the far north of the district .
The Huamanquiquia district borders on the Sarhua district in the west, the Alcamenca district in the northeast, the Huancaraylla district in the southeast and the Carapo district ( Huanca Sancos province ) in the south .
