The Masin District is located in the Huari Province in the Ancash region of western Peru . The district was established on February 2, 1956. It has an area of 75.2 km². The 2017 census counted 1,452 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2529, in 2007 it was 1948. The district administration is located in the 2550 m high village of Masin with 645 inhabitants (as of 2017). Masin is located 8.5 km east-southeast of the provincial capital Huari .
Geographical location
The Masin District is centrally located in the Huari Province. The Río Puchca flows along the southern district border towards east-northeast.
The Masin district borders on the Cajay district to the west and north and the Pontó , Rahuapampa and Huachis districts in the southeast .
