The district of San Pedro is located in the province of Ocros in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on January 17, 1945. It has an area of ​​550 km². The 2017 census counted 670 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 614, in 2007 1477. The district administration is located in the 2219  m high town of Copa with 242 inhabitants (as of 2017). Copa is 10 km west-northwest of the provincial capital Ocros .

Geographical location

The district of San Pedro is located on the western edge of the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the west of the province of Ocros. The Quebrada Choque, a left tributary of the Río Fortaleza , and the Quebrada de La Rinconada drain the area to the west.

The district of San Pedro borders in the southwest with the district Pativilca , in the northwest with the district Paramonga (both in the province Barranca ), in the north with the district Colquioc ( province Bolognesi ), in the northeast with the district Congas , in the east with the district Ocros as well as in the southeast to the district of Cochas .
