Krieschow village church

The evangelical village church Krieschow is a hall church in Krieschow , a district of the Kolkwitz community in the Spree-Neisse district in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish of Lower Lausitz the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

Coming from the south, Kreisstraße 7132 leads to Lausitzer Straße , which runs in a west-east direction. The church is located southeast of this intersection on a property with a church cemetery , which is enclosed with a fence .

history

The Brandenburg State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and the State Archaeological Museum (BLDAM) states in its database that the church was built in the second half of the 15th century. The steeple was added a few years later. The structure suffered considerable damage in the Thirty Years' War . In the 17th century the nave was raised, the windows were enlarged in a “ baroque ” style, the east gable was removed and a patron's box and sacristy were added. The parish suspects that the tower was partially demolished when the nave was rebuilt. Presumably, the pointed helmet was added during this renovation work . In the 18th century the interior was given a plastered ceiling.

During the Second World War , the church was damaged twice and then repaired. Subsequently, a winter church and classrooms were built into the patron s boxes , which were restored in 1993/1994.

Building description

View from the southeast

The building was essentially made of reddish brick , which is partially plastered . Field stones that were not hewn and not layered were used in the base. The choir is straight and has not moved in. On the east wall there are three large openings, of which the middle one is blocked with bricks. In front of it is a small extension with plastered pilaster strips and an upright rectangular window on the east side, which serves as a sacristy.

This is followed by the nave to the west. On the north side the large patronage box dominates, which takes up almost the entire length of the nave. It can be entered from the north through a large portal. Above it is an upright rectangular window. The entrance area is optically separated from the rest of the building by two pilaster strips. There are two raised windows, also small, on each side. On the west side is a small, low-set ox eye . Below was a tomb at an earlier time. On the remaining long wall there are two pressed, segment-arched windows, underneath, slightly off-center to the west, a closed gate. There are seven large windows on the south wall, followed by a mighty buttress in the eastern area of the nave. The ship carries a simple gable roof , the eastward hipped is.

The west tower has a square floor plan and is drawn in opposite the ship. It can be entered from the west via an ogival portal with four steps. In the base there is a further entrance on the north and south side towards the nave. The lower storey has a diamond pattern; about it is missing. The original, arched sound arcades are blocked. There are two small openings on each side. Above it is an eight-fold pointed helmet, which ends with a tower ball and weather vane.

Furnishing

The wooden altarpiece is dated to 1680 and is believed to have been made by the cabinet maker Georg Wolschke from Calau . The work was probably changed when the plastered ceiling was installed in the 18th century. It consists of a three-storey structure with winding columns and cartilage. In the predella the birth of Jesus can be seen, above it on a pedestal the Lord's Supper between two spell cartouches. The altar sheet shows the crucifixion group , only the crucifix was sculpted. The arched side panels show paintings of the flagellation and entombment. In Altar extract which is resurrection of Jesus Christ displayed. At the side Wolschke arranged two standing figures showing Christ as a gardener and Maria Magdalena . Above the extract was originally a cartouche with a Ascension painting, which is now in the tower hall. After the renovation there is a trumpet angel.

The massive pulpit basket probably also comes from Wolkschke's workshop and consists of a polygonal basket that rests on a small figure of Moses. In the fields at the entrance are pictures of the evangelists , in between small carved figures of the apostles . Above is an octagonal sound cover with a clasp crown and God the Father. On the back wall is a portrait of Pastor Johannes Korn between the apostles Jacobus and Matthias, who died in 1682.

The fifth was made of pewter in 1654. The horseshoe galleries are two-story. In the western area there is an organ by Barnim Grüneberg from 1880. The instrument has seven manuals and two pedals . An epitaph commemorates Eva von Rohr, who died in 1604.

In front of the north side is a shell tombstone, which commemorates Wilhelmine Juliane von Mattenberg, who died in 1813 and a close relative of the then manor owner von Normann.
