history

The Vehlener village church in the mountain road was around the year 1850 of red bricks a beating Unterthiner brick in the style of Gothic Revival built. Due to the forms used, building experts assign the church building to Friedrich August Stüler 's surroundings.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the exterior of the church was extensively restored, the work had been transferred to the Masche-Bau company from the Schaumburger Land by the church management.

Building

The church is clearly divided into three structures: steeple , nave and choir with a polygonal apse . The nave has three high, single stepped pointed arch windows to the north and south , which are covered with simple lead glazing . Between the windows there are pilasters as vertical structural elements . To the west and east, stepped gables form the ends of the ship. The corners of the individual steps are extended vertically with tower-like battlements . The apse has five pointed arched windows with simple leaded glazing with a colored border, only a cross is shown in the middle window . The sacristy with the preacher's portal is located in the corners between the nave and the choir.

The church tower with a square floor plan is four-story with ogival windows and ox eyes . A church tower clock with a dial on the south side is inserted between the third and fourth floors . The portal leads into the vestibule in the church tower area. It has a pointed arch and is simply stepped and contains a double-leaf door that is stepped in the upper corners, with the lower of the two steps being rounded. A cross worked into the plaster is emblazoned above the door in the panel. The ogival sound openings of the tower on the two upper floors are incorporated into larger ogival screens . The two upper floors have pilaster strips as vertical elements . The corner pilasters are extended vertically over the eaves of the tower with turret-like battlements . There is an imitation stone parapet between the battlements . A frieze runs horizontally around the church building a little below the eaves of the church roof. Other friezes designed in this way visually separate the upper floors of the tower. The octagonal pointed spire is centrally located with tower ball and tower cross completed. The roofs are primarily covered with red beaver tails , the lower rows of the ship's roof with pantiles .
