The Woltersdorf village church is the only church in the Woltersdorf district of the Bensdorf community in the west of Brandenburg . The hall church is designated as a monument and belongs to the parish area Brandenburg West of the Evangelical church district Mittelmark-Brandenburg of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .

history

It is noticeable that the Woltersdorf village church does not have the west-east orientation that is otherwise common for churches, but one from south to north. The village church was built in the classicism style between 1826 and 1827. The builder was the Woltersdorf church patron , a woman major from Werder . The builder of the church was a city planning officer from Brandenburg an der Havel von Thümen . In the years 1867 and 1868 the first major alterations were made when the nave was enlarged. The organ from August Ferdinand Wäldner's workshop was also built during this time . Sixty years after its construction, the church tower had to be completely replaced in 1886 due to severe damage. In 1929 a steel bell was hung in the tower.

In 1963 the village church was blocked by the building authorities and in 1971, due to its poor condition, the church and the state intended to demolish it. In the following years, however, the church building was renovated with few available funds. In 2000 the village church Woltersdorf was added to the monuments list of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district . Four years later, a support association for the Woltersdorf village church was founded. Until 2007, the roof structure, the wooden beam ceiling and the structural shell were renovated in accordance with the listed buildings using funds raised by the association, funds from the church and subsidies . The interior of the church was also repaired.

Building

View from the west

The classical village church is designed in three parts. There is a three-story tower in the south. This is followed by the nave , on the northern outer wall there is a five-sided polygonal apse . The ship has five arched windows to the east and west , which are framed and slightly suspect . Horizontal structural elements are cornices , which run under the windows and under the eaves , and which continue on the gable-side walls, the door and the apse, that is, run cranked around the church building. The apse is simple. Two arched windows point to the northeast and northwest.

The church tower, which is square in terms of floor plan, has three floors. The individual floors are optically structured by cornices. A round-arched portal is designed similar to the round-arched windows on the lower two floors. The bell cage is on the third floor . Round-arched sound openings are created twice. Above this are the clock faces of the church tower, separated on all four sides by a cornice . Above this, there are small, typically neo-classical triangular gables with small window openings. The spire is hexagonal and covered with copper sheet . Tower ball and weather vane form the top.

The roof of the nave and apse is covered with red beaver tails . The nave roof is a gable roof , that of the apse is half a tent roof . At the northeast corner of the ship's roof is a tall chimney .

Interior decoration

In the apse there are altar paintings by the painter Brockmüller from the late 19th century. On the altarpiece, Christ risen from his grave is depicted with a raised hand. The windows are covered with lead glazing . Some of these are colored. In the northeast corner of the ship is a cast iron stove with a decorative surface design.
