With almost 130 inhabitants, Dorheim is the smallest district of the Neuental community in the Schwalm-Eder district of Hesse .

location

The place is located in the southeastern part of the municipality between two arms of the Merrebach . To the southwest of the village rises the 343 m high former Burgberg Landsburg , on which basalt is mined today.

Neighboring towns are Michelsberg in the southeast, Schlierbach in the southwest, Waltersbrück in the northwest and Neuenhain in the northeast.

history

Evangelical Church in Dorheim

Dorheim was first mentioned in a document between 1205 and 1216 as Turnheim . The village belonged to the Waltersbrück court and from the 16th century to the Hessian office of Borken . In 1821 Dorheim became part of the Fritzlar district , which in 1932 became the Fritzlar-Homberg district (renamed the Fritzlar-Homberg district in 1939) and in 1974 the Schwalm-Eder district. The previously independent municipality has been a district of Neuental since 1972.

From the middle of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century, the place had about 200 inhabitants. In 1950 the population was 289. Since then the number of residents has declined, in 1961 it was 222 and today there are around 150.

The Protestant church in the town center is of Romanesque origin and, according to a chronicle, was significantly rebuilt in the 14th century. After the Reformation , Dorheim was a branch community of Allendorf an der Landsburg , later of Bischhausen , Zimmerrode , again of Allendorf, then of Dillich and finally, from around 1900, of Schlierbach .

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent community of Dorheim was incorporated into the new community of Neuental.
