history

Waltersbrück was first mentioned in a document in 1230 as Waltersbrugga . The place was the seat of a court, which was divided in 1359. The von Gilsa received the places Zimmerrode and Gilsa , while the remaining court with the places Bischhausen, Gerzhausen , Schlierbach, Ahausen , Glimmerode and Dorheim fell to the Lords of Löwenstein- Schweinsberg.

During the Thirty Years War the village was destroyed by Bavarian troops in 1635. On November 30, 1644, the village and court came to Waltersbrück (with Schlierbach, Bischhausen and Dorheim) as a gift from the Landgrave widow and regent Amalie Elisabeth von Hessen-Kassel to the Privy Councilor and Court Marshal Jakob von Hoff († 1671). It stayed in his family until it died out in 1734, when the landgrave Prince Georg took care of it . With his death in 1755 it fell back to Hessen-Kassel as a settled fiefdom.

In the Landgraviate of Hesse and Hessen-Kassel, Waltersbrück was initially administered by the Borken Office , then from 1791 by the Jesberg Office and from 1821 by the Fritzlar District . The Waltersbrück court was merged with the Jesberg court in 1821 .

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent community of Waltersbrück was incorporated into the new community of Neuental.
