Schlierbach is the southernmost part of the Neuental community in the Schwalm-Eder district of Hesse . The place has about 300 inhabitants.

location

Schlierbach is a good five kilometers north of Treysa on the western left bank of the Schwalm near the confluence of the Schlierbach of the same name . To the east of the village rises the 343 m high former Burgberg Landsburg , on which basalt was previously mined. In the northwest there is a forest area belonging to the Jesberg state forest with the 352 m high goat head and the princess garden . The section of the Lulluspfad long-distance hiking trail between the Kellerwald and Knüllgebirge mountains crosses the village and crosses the Schwalm here.

The country road 3076, which runs through the Schwalmtal, leads through Schlierbach , from which the state road 3385 branches off via Elnrode-Strang to Jesberg and the district road 56 to Dorheim . Neighboring towns are Dorheim in the east and Elnrode in the west, Allendorf an der Landsburg in the south and Waltersbrück in the north. The planned route of the Autobahn 49 in the section between Neuental and Schwalmstadt leads past the village to the west.

The Main-Weser Railway runs east of Schlierbach on the opposite bank of the Schwalm. Since 1880 there has been a stop about half a kilometer outside of the town center, and a station building was built there in 1913. Today Schlierbach is served by the regional express line RE98 to Frankfurt , which runs in the Kassel - Treysa section .

history

Schlierbach was first mentioned in 1193 as Slirbach . In 1448 the place was devastated and partly turned into forest, in 1575 it was mentioned again as a village. Schlierbach has belonged to the Waltersbrück court since the Middle Ages . In 1569 the village placed itself under Hessian protection and was administered by the Borken office, in 1814 it came to the Jesberg office and in 1821 to the Fritzlar district , which in 1932 became the Fritzlar-Homberg district (renamed the Fritzlar-Homberg district in 1939) and in 1974 the Schwalm-Eder- Circle opened. On December 31, 1971, the previously independent municipality of Schlierbach was incorporated into the new municipality of Neuental.

Until the current Protestant church was built in 1820, Schlierbach shared a church with Elnrode-Strang . Until 2013, the place formed a parish with Waltersbrück and Dorheim . On January 1, 2014, these three parishes merged with the neighboring parishes of Allendorf and Michelsberg to form the parish of Landsburg . In addition, there has been a parish of the Renitent Church in Schlierbach since around 1880 , which has had its own church since 1897 and is now part of the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church .
