Dorothea Meissner
Dorothea Meissner (born July 18, 1949 in Brandenburg an der Havel , † March 5, 2010 ) was a German actress .
Life
Meissner completed an acting education at the Rostock Drama School and in Berlin . Meissner had theater engagements at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Volkstheater Rostock, among others . In 1972 Meissner came to the Rostock Volkstheater and was a permanent member of the ensemble there for almost 40 years .
In the 1970s Meissner was also seen in a few roles in feature films and in television films on television in the GDR . Among other things, she played in the DEFA film The Russians Come in 1971, directed by Heiner Carow .
Meissner gained particular fame through the German synchronization of the role of Cinderella in the fairy tale film Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella, which has meanwhile become a Christmas classic . She can also be heard in the German version as a dubbing voice in the Russian fairy tale film The Princess and the Pea . In 1980 she loaned this to Kay Harding in the DEFA dubbing of the film Die Kralle under the title Die Scharlachrote Kralle . Meissner also worked several times as a speaker for radio plays . Among other things, she spoke the role of the princess in a GDR radio play production of the fairy tale The Swineherd by Hans Christian Andersen in 1978 . Meissner also worked as a reciter . As part of the Rostock Literature and Film Week , she read in Rostock in 2000 under the motto love letters to Adolf Hitler - letters to death from love letters that women wrote to Adolf Hitler .
During the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall she made a brilliant comeback as the doll Lina in Joshua Sobol's Ghetto (director: Meinhard Zanger ). In 2000 Dorothea Meissner played at the Volkstheater Rostock in the world premiere of the play Phobiker! by Daniel Call . In 2002 she played the old councilor Gonzalo in the play The Tempest by William Shakespeare in the opening production by the new theater director Johanna Schall . In 2003 she played at the Rostock Volkstheater in the crime comedy Eight Women by Robert Thomas . In 2006 she appeared in the role of Celia Peachum in The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill . In the 2009/2010 season she took on the role of the aging but sprightly Lily in the comedy Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks by Richard Alfieri, alongside Jens Knospe . In 2007 Meissner acted as a speaker in a performance of the scenic oratorio King David by Arthur Honegger in the St. Johannis Church in Rostock .
Shortly before her death, Meissner was on stage in Steffen Mensching's musical drama Das Ballhaus in the Rostock Volkstheater in January 2010 . She died after a long illness to cancer .
