Meinhard Zanger

Meinhard Zanger (born February 16, 1955 in Memmelsdorf ) is a director , actor , lecturer , artistic director and festival director .

Life

From 1978 to 1981 he completed an acting training in Cologne . This was followed by studies in theater , film and television studies , German and philosophy at the University of Cologne .

Since 1988 he has been a regular speaker and presenter for WDR . 1997 to 2006 he was the artistic director of the Cologne Theater der Keller and director of the associated drama school der Keller . Zanger has been a member of the directors' group at the German Stage Association since 1998 and a member of the Artistic Committee of the German Stage Association since 2004. In 2000 Zanger received the Cologne Theater Prize for Der Freigeist and in 2003 he was invited to the 37th BITEF International Theater Festival in Belgrade. In 2002/03 he was voted the best actor of the season in NRW by the NRW specialist magazine theater pur after Michael Maertens . In 2004 he was artistic director of the 11th THEATERZWANG (Best Of (f) -Festival NRW). Zanger has been the artistic director of the Wolfgang Borchert Theater in Münster since July 1, 2006 and until the end of the 2020/21 season . In the 2006/07 winter semester he held a teaching position at the Cologne University of Music . In 2010 and 2011 he was an expert for the German Theater Prize DER FAUST and has been a member of the administrative board of the Bavarian Supply Chamber - VddB since November 2010. Since January 2011 he has been a deputy assessor for the stage arbitration tribunals, the stage association / GDBA and opera choirs. In 2011 and 2012 he was a jury member for the fringe festival at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen . In 2016 he received the Monica Bleibtreu Prize for his production of the Shakespeare comedy Was Ihr wollt at the 5th Privattheatertage in Hamburg.
