Douglas Augusto Soares Gomes , called Douglas Augusto , (born January 13, 1997 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian football player . The left foot runs mainly in the central defensive midfield.

Career

Douglas Augusto began his career at Fluminense Rio de Janeiro . In 2015 he made the leap to the professional squad here. On September 6, 2015, he played his first game as a professional in Série A. In the home game against the biggest local rival Flamengo Rio de Janeiro , he was in the starting line-up and was allowed to play through to the end. However, this debut was lost 3-0. For the remainder of the 2015 season , he often sat on the bench as a reserve player. He received two more appearances in the league and one in the Copa do Brasil . At the beginning of 2016, Douglas Augusto remained in the squad. He continued to play partly off the bench, partly in the starting XI in the state championship of Rio de Janeiro and the newly created Primeira Liga do Brasil in 2016 . In the championship season he came to 30 out of 38 possible missions. Douglas scored two goals.

Douglas Augusto moved to Corinthians São Paulo in mid-July 2018 . At the club he received a contract until July 2022. In the 2018 championship he played 15 games, 14 of them in the starting line-up. In four others he was in the Copa do Brasil 2018 and two in the Copa Libertadores 2018 . He scored his only goal for the club in Série A on September 23, 2018 against Internacional Porto Alegre . In the home game, he scored in the 50th minute to equalize 1-1.

Douglas Augusto was loaned to EC Bahia for the 2019 season. In the course of winning the Bahia State Championship , he was eight times for Bahia on the pitch (no goal).

At the beginning of July 2019, Douglas Augusto's move to Greece to PAOK Thessaloniki became known. The transfer fee was 13 million real, about 3 million euros. The contract had a term of four years. Corinthians retained 15 percent of the transfer rights. 10 percent of the transfer fee went to Fluminense to redeem the rights that were still there. The EC Bahia was awarded an unknown amount of compensation for the early termination of the contract. Douglas Augusto played his first competitive game for PAOK on August 6, 2019 in the third qualifying round for the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League . In the home game against Ajax Amsterdam , he came on in the 73rd minute for Diego Biseswar . His first league appearance was on August 25, 2019, the first day of the 2019/20 season . In the 2-1 home win against Panetolikos , Douglas Augusto was in the starting line-up.
