Maurício José da Silveira Júnior (born October 21, 1988 in São José dos Campos ), Maurício for short , is a Brazilian football player on the position in defensive midfield , who has been under contract with PAOK Thessaloniki since August 2017 .

Club career

Maurício came from the youth department of Corinthians São Paulo . In 2006 he left his youth club and joined the A-youth of Fluminense Rio de Janeiro . In January 2007 he was considered for the professional team. On May 20, 2007 he made his debut in the Brazilian Série A in the game against Gremio Porto Alegre . At the end of the season there were 20 games to book. He was able to prepare two goals. In the 2007/08 season he was able to consolidate his regular place, but was not in the squad from the 30th to the 36th matchday. Nevertheless, he made 22 league games. He scored on August 31, 2008, the 23rd match day, his first league goal in the game against Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . Zenit Saint Petersburg

In mid-January 2016, he joined league rivals Zenit Saint Petersburg . His contract is valid until June 30, 2016. He played his first game for Zenit on February 28, 2016 in the Russian Football Cup against FK Kuban Krasnodar , where he scored the decisive 1-0 in extra time. At the end of the 2015/16 season the trophy could be won. He scored his first league goal for Zenit on April 16, 2016, the 24th matchday, in a 5-2 win over Spartak Moscow . Mauricio has been playing in Thessaloniki since 2017 and was cup winner and runner-up with PAOK FC in 2018 . In 2019 Mauricio and his team can become Greek champions and cup winners , and thus call themselves double winners . In the second half of the 2018/19 season, Mauricio suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament and was out for more than half a year.
