coat of arms

The coat of arms of Salzgitter Drütte shows in the lower part of the diagonally divided shield a plow with marsh plants on a green background. The green background, like the plow, indicates the agriculture that has been practiced in Drütte for hundreds of years. The swamp plants symbolize the floodplain landscapes where the place was located and which were drained. In the upper part, a sheet metal roller is depicted on a blue background, which refers to the ironworks that was built in the late 1930s on parts of the Drütte district. The blue stands for steel and sheet metal. The coat of arms was accepted as the local coat of arms of Salzgitter-Drütte by a citizens' meeting in December 2007.

Attractions

Flax rotting in Drütte

Flax rots in Salzgitter-Drütte

Flax rotting was used in Drütte since 1607. This flax rott is located on the southern border of the town right next to the Brückenbach , it is about 8 m wide and 75 m long. Flax rot can be reached via federal road 248 or cycle path 31 running from Immendorf to Thiede. There are old trees on both sides of the flax rot, but many young trees, bushes and shrubs have also sprout here. The ecological value of this former flax rotting is of great importance for plants, small animals and birds.

Insect hotel at the Flax Rotten in Drütte

Insect hotel in Salzgitter-Drütte

A location near the flax rotting was chosen for the insect hotel because water is available there and ecological diversity is sought at this location. The building is oriented to the south in order to achieve optimal warming by the sun. Lace flies, butterflies, ladybugs and ear peckers can live in the straw behind the wickerwork . Hollow stones serve as shelter for various wasp species, such as ichneumon wasps or digger wasps. On the back there are two boxes for bats .

traffic

The Drütte station, where the Braunschweig – Salzgitter-Bad and the Braunschweig – Salzgitter-Lebenstedt railway separate, is now passed through without a passenger train stop.

To the west of the village lies the Salzgitter-Drütte airfield .
