from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The e-Lake festival is a music festival in Echternach in Luxembourg . It takes place every year on the second weekend in August. The three-day event is organized by the Echternach youth club (Club des Jeunes Echternach). This reflects the basic idea of the festival: acting for the youth (original: agir pour la jeunesse). The festival is organized exclusively by young people and for young people. There is no entry fee.

The music styles are diverse. Since 1996 the festival has been divided into three parts: Friday is dedicated to live concerts, Saturday offers 12 hours of trance and techno and according to the organizers, Sunday has the motto “Disco and Fun”. The festival has had around 20,000 to 23,000 visitors a year since the 2010s .

history

The idea for this festival arose in 1983 due to a lack of attractions especially for young people in the area around Echternach. It takes place on the shores of Lake Echternach in a natural amphitheater. Small hills surround the area and thus form a kind of amphitheater. In 1983 the festival had 400 visitors; the number rose to around 1100 in 1990. In 2009, 20,000 visitors were counted. In 2010 the festival already had 8,000 visitors on the first day. The German band Blumentopf also performed on this day . Since the year 2000 a specially created asbl organizer of the festival. In 2011, 20,000 visitors were expected for the first time. It became one of the largest and most important events of its kind in Luxembourg.
