Eastern District ( Chinese  東區  /  东区 , Pinyin Dōng Qū , Jyutping Dung 1 Keoi 1 ) is an administrative area of Hong Kong in the northeast of Hong Kong Island . It stretches from Victoria Park on Causeway Bay to Cape Collinson in Siu Sai Wan . Eastern is the district with the second largest population after Sha Tin . 588,000 people live in an area of 18.73 km².

The urban development took place along the coast from west to east. The newest residential area is therefore in Siu Sai Wan at the east end, the construction of which began with land reclamation in 1985. In addition to some densely populated areas, the Eastern District also includes uninhabited, hilly areas inland. These include Mount Parker , the second highest mountain on Hong Kong Island, as well as Mount Butler and Pottinger Peak .

At Shau Kei Wan is Lei Yue Mun , the narrowest strait in Victoria Harbor . In Quarry Bay , the skyscraper is One East Iceland .
