Edition Bach Academy

The Edition Bachakademie is a record series with 172 volumes with the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach , recorded under the artistic direction of Helmuth Rilling . The series was published by Hänssler Classic and published by the International Bach Academy Stuttgart for the Bach Year 2000 .

Background and reception

The series is made up of secondary uses of the sacred cantatas that Helmuth Rilling published in the series Die Bach-Kantate in the 1970s and 1980s , and new recordings of the remaining vocal and instrumental works from the Bach works directory up to Fragments and alternate sentences. In addition to the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart and the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart orchestra , u. a. Sibylla Rubens , Ingeborg Danz , James Taylor , Marcus Ullmann and Hanno Müller-Brachmann for the project.

The series received positive feedback from experts and the press, in Germany from Spiegel and Focus, among others, and won music prizes such as the Grand Prix du Disque , ECHO Klassik and Cannes Classical Award . At the end of 2009, a digital version of the edition was released as the Digital Bach Edition in the form of mp3 files, ready to use, synchronized on an iPod classic .
