Edwin Grüninger (born October 25, 1882 in Mettenberg ; † January 6, 1963 in Bühl ) was an administrative lawyer from Baden.

Life

Grüninger was born the son of an innkeeper. He attended high schools in Grafenhausen , Konstanz and Rastatt and then studied law at the Universities of Gießen , Freiburg im Breisgau and Heidelberg . In 1910 he passed the first state examination in law and then worked as a legal intern at the district court and the higher regional court in Karlsruhe, at the district offices of Wertheim , Boxberg , Tauberbischofsheim , Villingen , Blasien and Oberkirch , at the notary's office in Wolfach, at the land registry office in Mannheim, at the Haas law firm in Karlsruhe and as a service administrator at the Karlsruhe District Court .

His further professional training was interrupted in 1915 by a year of military service. From 1916 he worked at the Kehl District Office , then for two years at the Waldshut District Office . In 1917 the second state examination followed and in 1918/19 he was employed as a magistrate assessor in the city administration of Hanau .

As a candidate for the German Center Party , he was elected mayor of the Baden city of Bühl in 1919 . In October 1933, after the National Socialists came to power, he was released and arrested. As a result, he settled in Bühl as a lawyer. After another politically motivated arrest, he moved to the Michelshof in Furtwangen to avoid further attacks.

After the end of the Second World War and the occupation by French troops, Grüninger returned to Bühl on April 14, 1945 and was appointed mayor there on May 16, 1945. On 18 February 1946 he joined the office of the district administrator of the district Buhl . In 1951 he was released from service.
