The Eichendorffschule is a cooperative comprehensive school with upper secondary school in the Münster district of Kelkheim (Taunus) in Hesse . The education courses of the Hauptschule , Realschule and the secondary levels I and II of the Gymnasium are combined here in one school. The Eichendorff School is a school with a musical focus.
About 1200 students are taught at the school. The high school branch is usually four courses, the secondary school branch two courses and the main school branch one course. The upper level has a width of about 80-120 students per year. The college consists of around 100 teachers.
history
The Eichendorff School was founded
The history of the Eichendorff School is closely linked to today's Pestalozzi Elementary School. This is initially home to a primary school (1st to 8th grade). After the primary schools were dissolved in the FRG in 1964, the Pestalozzi School became a primary and secondary school, but only two years later (1966) the two types of school became organizationally independent. Both initially continue to share the school grounds.
It wasn't until 1972 that the secondary school moved into one of the five identical buildings on the outskirts of the Main-Taunus district . The Realschule becomes a cooperative comprehensive school with three branches (Hauptschule, Realschule and Gymnasium) and a support level - but without an upper level. Since 1974 this has been called the Eichendorff School. In 1976 the school received an extension for teaching natural sciences.
It was not until 1992 that the support level was transferred to the neighboring Gustav Lesemann School (special school), which is now called the Anne Frank School (special school).
Upper secondary school
After the secondary school moved out of the building in Pestalozzistraße, a high school moved into the building in 1979, so that Kelkheim received a GOS for the first time. This is initially just a branch of the Schwalbacher Oberstufe, but becomes independent in 1981. However, numerous problems and lack of space require a restructuring of the Kelkheim school landscape, so that the GOS moves into the building of the Eichendorff School in 1988, which is later renamed the Immanuel Kant School (IKS). Formally there were two schools under one roof. In 2002 EDS and IKS merged into one school.
Merger with the Staufenschule Fischbach
In 2006 the Eichendorffschule took over the Staufenschule in Kelkheim-Fischbach, which became independent again in 2013 as the Fischbach comprehensive school.

Musical focus
In the 5th and 6th grades there is a string , a choir and a wind class in the grammar school branch . Here the students learn to make music together. Afterwards, the musical promotion takes place within the framework of working groups, but singing is also often taken up again in the higher classes. In the course of time, a broad spectrum has developed from chamber orchestras to big bands. The rehearsed compositions are presented in numerous concerts to the school community and the public.
Junior Premium School
Since the 2014/15 school year, the school has regularly participated in the Junior Project of the Institute for German Economy and has already achieved some successes. As part of the project, E-phase students (11th grade) set up their own company, develop a business idea and implement it.
