The Eisenspitze is 2859  m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Lechtal Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol . It is a very dominant mountain with a south flank over 750 meters high and a pronounced rocky west ridge .

Environment and geology

The Eisenspitze is a good five kilometers as the crow flies northeast of Flirsch in the Stanzer Tal . Adjacent peaks are the Dawinkopf (2968 m) in the east and the Grießmuttekopf with 2807 meters in the northwest, beyond the Parseierscharte . In the south lies the Stanzer Tal. In addition to mining for iron, manganese, gold, mercury and lead, the breccia of the iron tip was also mined as a work stone up to an altitude of 2,800 meters. These breccias were formed by submarine landslides at the time of the primeval ocean Tethys in the Jura geological system about 200 million years ago .

Support points and routes for ascent

The Eisenspitze was first climbed for tourism on August 15, 1886 by the Memmingen teacher Anton Spiehler and E. Brandt from Nuremberg from Pians over the Dawinalpe and further over the southeast ridge to the summit. They were led by an empire from Quadratsch. The Ansbacher Hut at 2376 meters above sea level serves as a base for an ascent today . It can be reached from Flirsch in a good 3 hours. The way to Parseierspitze takes a good five hours over the Augsburger Höhenweg, first northeast over the Winterjöchl (2528 m), then southeast to the southwest ridge of the Grießmuttekopf, to a bivouac box ( Roland-Ritter-Bivak ) at 2604 meters. At the Parseierscharte the path runs south through steep rubble and rugged terrain over the western Eisenkopf and narrow ridges to the summit of the Eisenspitze. In places you have to climb in the II. UIAA degree . According to the literature, the tour from the Parseierscharte to the summit takes about an hour. Requirements are surefootedness , a head for heights and good weather conditions.
