El Hassan Lahssini (born January 1, 1975 in Témara ) is a French long-distance runner of Moroccan origin.

Life

In 1996 he won the Corrida de Houilles . The following year he was eighth over 3000 m at the World Indoor Championships in Paris in 1997 and twelfth in the long distance at the World Cross Country Championships in Turin . Over 5000 m he won silver at the Mediterranean Games in Bari and was seventh at the World Athletics Championships in Athens . In the Corrida de Houilles he finished fourth.

In 1998 and 1999 he won out of competition starting at the French championships in cross country . In the short distance race of the Cross Country World Championship he came in 1998 in Marrakech in 18th place and in 1999 in Belfast in ninth place.

In January 2000, he received French citizenship. At his first start for his new home he came in 16th place at the 2001 European Cross Country Championships in Thun and won silver with the team. In 2002 he came in 23rd place at the Cross Country World Championships in Dublin and was sixth over 10,000 m at the European Athletics Championships in Munich . At the European Cross Country Championship in Medulin , he again contributed to winning the silver medal for the French team with a 16th place.

In 2003 he was third in the national half marathon championships and won the Venice marathon . At the European Cross Country Championship in Edinburgh , he finished eighth and won with the team.

The following year he became French cross-country champion and came 17th at the Cross-Country World Championships in Brussels . In June he became national champion in the 10 km road race . A 36th place in the 2004 Olympic Games marathon in Athens was followed by a third place in the Amsterdam Marathon . In 2005 he finished eighth in the Paris Marathon , defended his national title in the 10 km road run and won bronze over 10,000 m at the Mediterranean Games in Almería .

In 2007 he became national champion over 10,000 m and won bronze with the team at the European Cross Country Championship in Toro in eighth place.

In 2008 he was sixth in the Great Manchester Run and with a victory in the Corrida de Langueux national champion over 10 km, in 2010 he was national runner-up in the Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes .
