Ellis Island Medal of Honor

The Ellis Island Medal of Honor (English for Ellis Island Medal of Honor ) is a US civilian award. It was donated by the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO) in 1986. This award highlights the importance of immigrants and the contributions immigrants and their children have made to the benefit of the United States.

On the New York island Ellis Iceland every May there will be a ceremony for the award ceremony. All branches of service of the US Army traditionally participate. Both the House of Representatives and the Senate have recognized the Ellis Island Medals of Honor . A banquet takes place in the great hall where the immigrants became US citizens in ceremonies. Around 100 are awarded the medal each year.
