Emil was the son of Paul Emil Scotti (1805–1868) and his wife Emma, ​​née Delius (1812–1867). His father was the Prussian regional and city court director and district justice councilor in Neustadt.

Military career

Scotti received his education in his parents' house and at the grammar school in Neisse . On March 31, 1868 he joined the 4th Upper Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 63 of the Prussian Army as an avantageur . By mid-October 1869 he was promoted to secondary lieutenant and took part in the battles at Chevilly and L'Haÿ as well as the enclosure and siege of Paris in 1870/71 during the war against France . After the war, Scotti initially served as a battalion adjutant and from November 1873 to the end of March 1878 as a regimental adjutant. With a patent from September 20, 1876 he was then promoted to Prime Lieutenant, transferred to the 8th Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 64 and commanded as an adjutant to the 59th Infantry Brigade in Mainz . After his departure , Kaiser Wilhelm II raised him to the hereditary Prussian nobility on June 16, 1913 .
