Episcopal Diocese of Springfield

The Episcopal Diocese of Springfield is a diocese of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America . It is located in the US state of Illinois and includes the area east of the Illinois River and south of the counties of Woodford , Livingston , Ford, and Iroquois . The foundation of the diocese was initiated when the former Episcopal Diocese of Illinois was divided into three different dioceses (Springfield, Quincy and Chicago ) in 1877. The 2010 Bishop, the Right Reverend Peter Hess Beckwith , was ordained on February 29, 1992 and serves as Vice President of the American Anglican Council . The future bishop, Daniel Hayden Martins , will be ordained on March 19, 2011.
