Erich Seefeldner

Erich Seefeldner (born September 30, 1887 in Werfen , † July 25, 1981 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian geographer , high school teacher and state school inspector .

Life

Born in Werfen, the judge's son, Erich Seefeldner, grew up in Vienna after his father was transferred . In 1906 he passed the Matura with distinction at the Döblinger Humanist Gymnasium . He then devoted himself to the study of Geography and History at the University of Vienna, where he with the promotion of Dr. phil. completed.

After working as a supplement at the Imperial and Royal High School Vienna IX , followed by participation in the First World War , he was committed to the secondary school at Ferdinand-Hanusch-Platz in Salzburg in 1920 as a high school professor . In 1940 Seefeldner, who was promoted to high school council, took over the office of state school inspector, in 1945 he was retired.

In recognition of his service to the alpine geomorphology was Erich Seefeldner 1944 with the honorary membership of the University of Innsbruck , with the 1972 Honorary Doctorate of the University of Salzburg awarded. The Seefeld native, who was appointed a corresponding member of the Geographical Society in 1956, was responsible for the classic basis of Salzburg landscape studies with his main work Salzburg and its landscapes, a geographic study of the country, published in 1961.
