Ernst Mutschler (doctor)

Ernst Benno Mutschler (born May 24, 1931 in Isny im Allgäu ) is a German emeritus for pharmacology. He was director of the Pharmacological Institute for Natural Scientists at the University of Frankfurt am Main.

Life

Mutschler's parents were Ernst Benno Mutschler and his wife Luise geb. Krauss. In the fall of 1950 he passed the Abitur examination at the Uhland-Gymnasium Tübingen . After two and a half years as a pharmacy intern, he studied from 1953 at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich pharmacy . In 1955 he was reciprocated in the Corps Isaria .

Tübingen

After three scales , he moved to the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , where he was reciprocated on May 3, 1955 in the befriended Corps Rhenania Tübingen . He bracketed the charge des conseniors and was inactivated on February 27, 1956 after three games . After he had passed the pharmaceutical state examination in Tübingen in 1957, he studied medicine. Mainz

In 1964 he qualified as a professor for pharmacy at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . The subject of his habilitation thesis was the chemistry and pharmacology of the alkaloids damascenine and arecoline . As an assistant at the Pharmaceutical Institute, he passed the medical state examination in 1965. In 1966 he was also promoted to Dr. med. PhD. In 1968 he was appointed head of department and professor. The Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main appointed him to its chair for pharmacology in 1974 and appointed him director of the Pharmacological Institute for natural scientists. In 1975 he was elected to the board of the German Society for Medicinal Chemistry . He later joined the scientific advisory board of the Federal Chamber of Pharmacists and the military medical advisory board. In 1980 he was accepted by the Mainz Academy of Sciences and Literature . In 1997 he retired .

Mutschler was best known as the editor and co-editor of two popular textbooks in the fields of pharmacology, anatomy , physiology and human pathophysiology . Both books, especially the book drug effects known as “der Mutschler” . Textbook of pharmacology and toxicology are considered standard works. In addition, he has authored and co-authored more than 600 scientific publications in the fields of pharmacodynamics , pharmacokinetics and analysis of drugs . His main research interest was the synthesis of selective agonists and antagonists for subtypes of muscarinic - receptor .
