history

It was founded on April 24, 1946 by the Ursulines of Danzig when it started teaching with 139 pupils and 8 sisters. It was originally a girls' high school, but in 1968/69 the first boys entered the upper school. From the 1974/75 school year, this also applied to secondary level I. Since 1992 , it has been sponsored by the Archdiocese of Cologne.

In 2005, construction began on a reading and information center (LIZ), an expanded children's library and a new cafeteria, which were inaugurated at the beginning of the 06/07 school year and are now available to students.

In January 2007 the former deputy headmaster Walter Krämer was appointed director after Werner Mainz, who had been headmaster since 1994, died on June 1st, 2006.

At the beginning of the 08/09 school year, the new school canteen was inaugurated, offering hot meals for lunch.

On March 11, 2019, the school officially received the certification School without Racism - School with Courage and thus undertakes to take active action against exclusion of any kind in the long term.

Facilities

The school mainly consists of two interconnected buildings, the old and the new building, two sports halls , a football field , a school chapel , a school garden and the so-called "old economy".

The two sports halls (one old and one new) are used not only for physical education but also for school events, such as the carnival celebration, and by local sports groups. The “AngelArena”, which is located above the school, is used by the students for physical education during breaks and in summer. The so-called "break hall" is used by the students to park bicycles, scooters and motorcycles. There are also several table tennis tables here . The school chapel, in which different grades celebrate services on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays , is also used and maintained by the Ursuline monastery located directly on the school premises . The school garden is the garden AG maintained and several teachers. The so-called "old economy" is a small building directly at the school garden, which is mainly used for school events such as parents' meetings, class celebrations, etc., but also for art exhibitions.

Additional subjects in the intermediate level are nutrition , history lessons in English, as well as Math + (a combination of mathematics and computer science), French and Latin.

Since the beginning of the school year 08/09, grades 5 to 9 each have a "long day". This includes a lunch break, during which a warm meal can be taken in the new cafeteria, as well as an active break organization.
