The Archdiocese of Bobo-Dioulasso ( Latin Archidioecesis Bobodiulassensis , French Archidiocèse de Bobo-Dioulasso ) is an archdiocese in Burkina Faso (formerly Upper Volta ) in West Africa . It includes the dioceses of Dédougou , Diébougou , Banfora and Nouna . The seat of the diocese is Bobo-Dioulasso , the second largest city in the state of Burkina Faso.

history

Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Prefecture Bobo-Dioulasso on December 15, 1927 with the Breve Expedit from the Apostolic Vicariates Bamako and Ouagadougou . With the bull Ad Christi regnum , Pius XI. on March 9, 1937 the prefecture to the vicariate, on December 14, 1955 Pius XII. with the bull Dum tantis to the diocese and finally John Paul II on December 5, 2000 with the bull Afrorum ecclesiales to the archdiocese.
