Estancia ( Filipino : Bayan ng Estancia , Hiligaynon : Sangguniang Bayan Estancia ) is a metropolitan area municipality in the province Iloilo on the island of Panay in the Philippines . It has 48,546 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 25 barangays . It belongs to the second income bracket of the communities in the Philippines and is described as partially urban .
Estancia is located on the eastern coast of Panay Island, on the busy waterway of the Guimaras Strait , opposite the Negros . The capital of the province, Iloilo City , is located approx. 129 km southwest of the municipality and can be reached from there by bus or jeepney . The neighboring communities are Balasan in the west, Batad in the southwest and Carles in the north. The topography of the municipality is determined by flat lands and a hilly landscape in the interior of the island.
From the fishing port of Estancia, the islands of Sicogon , Calagnaan and the Gigantes islands can be reached.
