The EuroCup 2018/19 was 17 . Playing time of the EuroCup in men's club basketball. It should not be confused with the FIBA Europe Cup , which is hosted by the continental association FIBA Europe .

Similar to the higher-level competition EuroLeague 2018/19 and as in the previous season, the competition had a name sponsor with the Greek food company Vivartia and its snack brand 7DAYS, so the full name of the competition was 7DAYS EuroCup .

mode

As in the previous year, 24 teams took part in the EuroCup in the preliminary round. The first round was the round-robin tournament mode English round robin played with home and away in four groups of six teams each. The two most unsuccessful teams in each preliminary round group were eliminated, while the other teams reached the second group stage of the 16 best teams.

Here, too, the game was continued in four groups with four teams each, with the teams staggered according to preliminary round placement, so that no group opponents in the preliminary round also played against each other in the intermediate round. The first and second placed teams in each intermediate round qualified for the quarter-finals, while the remaining intermediate round teams were eliminated.

From the quarter-finals onwards, the play-off mode " best of three " continued, with the better placed team in the intermediate round initially having home rights. The team that first scored two wins in a play-off series advanced to the next round.

Participating teams

No national champions took part in the competition, but at least six runners-up from the national leagues took part. The next-best clubs after the participants in the EuroLeague from the most important European leagues usually continued to take part in the EuroCup, but more and more clubs preferred the competing European Cup Basketball Champions League , such as Brose Bamberg .

The EuroCup lost overall quality, four participants did not reach the play-offs in their national leagues, with Türk Telekom, a second division climber also took part through a wildcard.
