Europe morning land
EUROPE | MORNING | LAND is a series of readings by the cities of Ludwigshafen am Rhein and Mannheim to promote the latest German-language literature in the European metropolitan region of Rhine / Neckar.
Goal setting
In addition to the offer of the Heidelberg Literature Festival and Reading.Hören literature festivals , the series focuses on authors who enrich the German language in a qualitatively special way, although or perhaps because German is not their first language. It ties in with the topos of the "literature café", relies on moderation and discussion in a relaxed atmosphere and on transparency, participation and intercommunal cooperation.
history
'EUROPE | MORNING | LAND 'has been jointly organized by the Mannheim Cultural Office, the Ludwigshafen Cultural Office and the Kultur Rhein-Neckar eV and KulturQuer - QuerKultur Rhein-Neckar eV associations, initially under the title' gutenMORGEN deutschLAND ', since the winter of 2000. Since then, moderated readings followed by discussions have been offered alternately in Mannheim and Ludwigshafen every winter half-year.
The series was inspired not least by the anthology “Morgen Land”, published in autumn 2000 by Jamal Tuschik. The series was initiated by Wolfgang Biller (Kulturamt Mannheim) with the participation of a preparatory group: Eleonore Hefner (Kultur Rhein-Neckar eV), Erika Flatter and Sabine Sahling (Kulturbüro Ludwigshafen), Gisela Kerntke and Semira Soraya Kandan (KulturQuer-QuerKultur Rhein-Neckar eV ), Bernhard Wondra (Mannheim Cultural Office). The literary scholars Sabine Fischer and Maike Lührs, Anna Barbara Dell (KulturQuer-QuerKultur Rhein-Neckar eV), the author and editor Klaus Servene , and the literary scholar and journalist Manfred Loimeier were or are also involved in the planning and / or moderation .
