Eutelsat 70D (formerly Eutelsat Hot Bird 13A , previously Hot Bird 6 ) was a television satellite of the European Telecommunications Satellite Organization ( Eutelsat ) based in Paris and was deployed in August 2002 on board an Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida (USA) started.

history

It replaced the Hot Bird 5 , which was also previously positioned at 13 ° East . LEOP and initial positioning occurred on Space Operations Center GSOC the DLR . On March 1, 2012, Eutelsat unified the names of its satellites around the brand name.

After the new Eutelsat 3D went into operation , Hot Bird 13A was replaced on July 4, 2013 by the Eutelsat 3C , which is now superfluous to 3.1 ° East , and moved to 7.8 ° West. Eutelsat 70D had 8  Skyplex units (MCPC packets could be put together via several uplinks at the same time). The transponders 90, 91 and 92 were used for this.

The transponders were divided as follows:

  • Ku band : 16 transponders with 33 MHz each (transponders 90–94, 115–118, 153–159)
  • Ku-band: 12 transponders with 36 MHz each (transponder 123-134)
  • Ka-Band : 4 transponders with 72 MHz each (transponder 153, 154, 158, 159)

reception

The satellite could only be received in the Middle East and Libya. The transmission took place in the Ku and Ka bands.
