Eutelsat 7A is a communications satellite of the European Telecommunications Satellite Organization ( Eutelsat ) based in Paris.

The satellite was originally called Eutelsat W3A . It was launched on March 16, 2004 on board a Proton rocket from the Baikonur spaceport . When Eutelsat changed the naming system of the satellites on March 1, 2012, it was named Eutelsat 7A according to its orbital position 7 ° East .

In addition to the transmission of radio and TV programs, Eutelsat 7A also provides capacity for Internet and multimedia services . Digiturk has rented almost the entire capacity of one of the three European footprints for television and radio broadcasts. The other European Ku-band footprint is mainly used by various data services.

There are several Skyplex units on board : These allow various signals sent to the satellite to be processed / bundled directly in the satellite and then transmitted to the reception area on earth without having to go through a ground station.

reception

The satellite can be received in Europe , Africa , the Middle East as well as parts of Asia and Russia .

The transmission is mostly in the Ku band , but there are also broadcasts in the Ka band.
