Florida , 1985: The two ex-soldiers William Matix and Michael Platt carry out several bank robberies and robberies along the South Dixie Highway in Miami , and they don't shy away from murder. Their undoing is the theft of a black 1979 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, whose owner they shoot down. However, he survived and was able to report the theft of his car to the police and to make a phantom of William Matix. Gordon McNeill, the head of the local FBI office, then decides to monitor the entire South Dixie Highway on April 11, 1986 and to keep an eye out for the stolen car. The two FBI agents Jerry Dove, who recently took up his duties, and Benjamin Grogan, the longest-serving agent in the office, finally discover the car and quietly take up the chase. After three more civilian patrols from the FBI joined the chase, Matix notices this and tells Platt, who then loads a Ruger Mini-14 rifle.
