FBI: Mörder (Original: In the Line of Duty: The FBI Murders ; also FBI: Ruthless ) is a 1988 American drama film that was based on real life and directed by Dick Lowry .
action
Florida , 1985: The two ex-soldiers William Matix and Michael Platt carry out several bank robberies and robberies along the South Dixie Highway in Miami , and they don't shy away from murder. The FBI only knows from testimony that it is dealing with two white men in riot suits who take turns driving a bright Chevrolet Monte Carlo and a white Ford F-150 delivery van. At home, the criminals and fathers pretend their wives are working undercover for the CIA , which they believe. Michael Platt is a loving father and husband and does a lot with his son. William Matix, on the other hand, is always violent towards his wife and has few nice words for her. He doesn't care much for his daughter either and says he can use nothing less than a child. He also secretly meets with other women. He is also suspected of murdering his first wife in Ohio , but this cannot be proven, although the evidence seems overwhelming. The two met in the United States Army , where they served for several years and were also used in the Vietnam War . Their undoing is the theft of a black 1979 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, whose owner they shoot down. However, he survived and was able to report the theft of his car to the police and to make a phantom of William Matix. Gordon McNeill, the head of the local FBI office, then decides to monitor the entire South Dixie Highway on April 11, 1986 and to keep an eye out for the stolen car. The two FBI agents Jerry Dove, who recently took up his duties, and Benjamin Grogan, the longest-serving agent in the office, finally discover the car and quietly take up the chase. After three more civilian patrols from the FBI joined the chase, Matix notices this and tells Platt, who then loads a Ruger Mini-14 rifle. The agents finally decide to put the two perpetrators in a side street to keep them away from more densely populated areas. After a short chase they manage to push the criminals off the street, whereupon they open fire. During the battle that followed, Jerry Dove and Benjamin Grogan were killed, and five other agents were seriously injured. When the two criminals, also seriously injured, get back into their vehicle, they are shot by an injured agent.

The drama is a film adaptation of the life and the attempted arrest of the two felons William Matix and Michael Platt. When they tried to arrest them in April 1986, the largest and most loss-making shootout in the history of the FBI developed, in which the two perpetrators and two agents were killed, and five other agents were seriously injured.
criticism
“Film based on an authentic case that went down in the annals of the FBI and whose logistics were added to the bureau's training program; He gains his tension from the question of when and how the FBI gets hold of the perpetrator, whereby their psychological motivation is neglected. A thought-provoking, admittedly very tough film that goes beyond the scope of comparable television productions. "
