FEI Nations Cup 2013 (dressage riding)

The FEI Nations Cup 2013 in dressage (2013 FEI Nations Cup ™ Dressage) was the first season of Nations Cup Dressage .

Course of the tournament series

All Nations Cup tournaments for dressage riders took place in Europe in 2013. The tournaments were advertised as CDIO 3 * or CDIO 5 *. The Grand Prix de Dressage was selected as a valuation test at three tournaments , and at the final tournament of the season the team decision was made in the Grand Prix Freestyle .

All tournaments took place in the green season (period in which riding tournaments can be held outside of halls due to weather conditions) - from May 17 to August 4, 2013. The CDIO 3 * tournament in Wellington (Florida) was not part of the Tournament series, as no Grand Prix de Dressage was held there (only Grand Prix Spécial and Grand Prix Freestyle).

Points were awarded on the basis of the placement, in CDIO 5 * tournaments more evaluation points were awarded than in 3 * tournaments.

The exams

1st test: France

The first ever tournament of the Nations Cup for dressage riders took place in Vidauban in the south of France . The CDIO 3 * was held from May 17th to 19th on the facility of the dressage and former show jumper Bernadette Brune (daughter of Walter Brune ).

2nd test: Netherlands

As in previous years, the Dutch Nations Cup tournament in dressage took place as part of the CHIO Rotterdam . The CHIO was held in Rotterdam from June 19 to 23, 2013 . The Grand Prix de Dressage, the special stage of the Nations Cup, took place on June 20th from 8:30 a.m.

3rd exam: Germany

The German dressage nation award has been held at the CHIO Aachen since the 1970s . This year's CHIO will be held in Aachen from June 21st to 30th . The Nations Cup was determined as part of the Grand Prix de Dressage on June 27th from 9:00 a.m.

4th test: United Kingdom

As part of the Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead , Dressage at Hickstead , the British Nations Cup for dressage riders, took place from August 1st to 4th, 2013 . The last stage of the Nations Cup was held here, the special stage took place as part of the Grand Prix Freestyle on Sunday.

The British team won the team competition in Hickstead, although Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro did not compete in the freestyle (they had previously won the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Spécial). The reunited British couple Carl Hester and Uthopia won the individual ranking of the Nations Cup . With second place in the individual, the 26-year-old German dressage rider Jenny Lang confirmed her strong form, Lang and her gelding Loverboy have only been competing internationally at Grand Prix level since the beginning of 2013.
