FIVB World Tour 1990/91
The FIVB World Tour 1990/91 consisted of four events. To the host countries of beach volleyball tournament series of the 1989-90 season Italy , Japan and Brazil came France added.

Sète
The French Open took place from July 27-29, 1990. Eighteen beach couples were at the start, including for the first time a German team with Thomas Brall and Jan Fell, which reached seventh place and received US $ 1,228 in prize money. In total, just over 30,000 US dollars were distributed. Five participating teams came from the host country, two each from the United States , Brazil and Italy. The remaining participants were from Austria , Switzerland , Spain , Denmark , Australia and Japan.
The Brazilians Andre Lima and Guilherme Marques were the winners, ahead of the Americans John Eddo and Sean Fallowfield, with Robert Lopes and Franco Neto, another Brazilian couple, taking third place. The best Europeans were the French Jean-Philippe Jodard and Christian Penigaud in fourth place.

Lignano
The Italian Open started on August 1st and ended on August 5th, 1990. Twenty beach couples competed. The prize money was at the same level as last year at US $ 50,000, of which US gold medalists Tim Hovland and Kent Steffes each received US $ 6000 . Like France, their compatriots John Eddo and Sean Fallowfield came in second, while Brazilians Eduardo Garrida and Roberto Moreira took third place. The Italians Dio Lequaglie and Marco Solustri were the best Europeans in fourth place ahead of another Brazilian couple. Roberto Lopes and Franco Neto could not fully confirm their third place from Sete.

Enoshima
Just four days after the end of the Italian tournament, the Japan Open began on August 9th. In three days of the tournament, twelve teams played for a total of 50,000 US dollars in prize money, of which the winners Leif Hanson and Eric Wurts from the United States received 12,000 dollars. The second-placed Al Janc and Tim Walmer also came from the USA, the bronze medal went to the Italians Dio Lequaglie and Marco Solustri, followed by the French Philippe Blain and Alain Fabiani and the Brazilians Roberto Lopes and Franco Neto in fourth and fifth. The only Korean participants, Park Hyung-Yong and Man-Soo Kang, were eighth ahead of the best Japanese Shoji Setoyama and Kazuyuki Takao and thus also the best Asians ahead of two other Japanese and one Chinese couple.

Rio de Janeiro
As in the previous year, the World Series ended with the tournament in Rio, which this time took place from February 12 to 23, 1991. As in 1990, twenty-two pairs of participants competed for victory at the Brazil Open in 1991 and the top three places were teams from the same nations in the same order as last year. Stoklos / Smith won the tournament on Sugar Loaf for the third time in a row and relegated their American compatriots Tim Hovland, who this time competed with Kent Steffes, to second place. The bronze medal went to Andre Lima and Guilherme Marques, two players from the host's country. Behind Mike Dodd (this time with Jon Stevenson) from the United States, four more of a total of eight Brazilian teams started fifth to eighth.
