The FK Zeta Golubovci ( Serbo-Croatian Фудбалски клуб Зета / Fudbalski klub Zeta ) is a Montenegrin football club from Golubovci , a suburb of Podgorica . The club has played in the first division of Montenegro , the Prva Crnogorska Liga , since the independence of Montenegro .
history
In 1927 the club was founded under the name FK Danica. In 1955 the club, now called FK Napredak, was renamed FK Zeta.
Between the end of the Second World War and 1962, FK Zeta played in regional football competitions in Podgorica. In 1962 they finally rose to the Montenegrin league, where they played until 1966 when the club qualified for the second Yugoslav league. In 2000 they were promoted to the Yugoslav first division.
Even if the club is still playing in the ailing Trešnjica Stadium, FK Zeta has had an enormous sporting upswing. Initially a semi-professional club, at the end of the 2004/2005 season they were able to claim third place behind Partizan Belgrade and Red Star Belgrade and qualify for the UEFA Cup . After Montenegro's independence, the club became the country's first football champion and qualified for the first qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League . Since then, except in 2009/10 , the club has always qualified for international competition.
