Football department

history

The club was founded in 1907 and from the 1930s onwards had two main divisions, soccer and athletics . In 1937 the football department played in the top German league ( Gauliga ) together with renowned clubs such as B. the SV Waldhof Mannheim . In the 1950s, the Kehler FV was one of the top clubs in southern Baden . So in 1958 they won the South Baden Cup . Until 1966 the Kehler FV played in the then third-class 1st Amateur League South Baden. The "KFV" reached this league again from 1970 to 1974. In the following decades the club recorded several promotions and relegations between the association league and the regional league . It was not until the 2007/08 season that coach Bora Markovic, who coached the club for 16 years, managed to make the leap into the now fifth-class Oberliga Baden-Württemberg as runner-up in the Association League South Baden through victories in the promotion relegation . There the club was able to establish itself in the following years and reached a single-digit place in the table for the first time in the 2012/13 season. After eight years of league football, the club was relegated back to the Südbaden Association League after the 2015/16 season . Although Kehl reached 14th place in the table, this was no longer enough to stay in the league this year, as an above-average number of clubs from Baden-Württemberg were relegated from the 3rd division and the Regionalliga Südwest . In the two following years, the Kehler FV reached single-digit table positions in the Association League South Baden, without having played a role in the return to the league. During the 2017/18 season, former Bundesliga professional Karim Matmour joined the club as an assistant coach. For the 2018/19 season, Matmour took over the head coach of the football department. At the beginning of October 2018, Matmour and the club separated by mutual agreement.

As of 2008, all of these leagues will slide down a notch.
