The Filzbach is a torrent in the side valley of the Trattenbachtal in the Kitzbühel Alps , in the municipality of Neukirchen am Großvenediger and Wald im Pinzgau .
geography
The brook has its source between Gamskogel ( 2206 m above sea level ) and Filzscharte ( 1686 m above sea level ) on the slope at around 1730 m . To the west, it reaches the cirque below the Filzscharte, from there it runs south, meandering almost without a gradient, and takes numerous channels from the surrounding slopes. The last 100 m of the approximately 2.3 km long stream have a steep gradient. The confluence in the Trattenbach is below the Sonntagsalm (at the stables below, Untere Sonntagsalm ).
The valley is oriented in a north-south direction, and the stream forms the municipal boundary of Wald in the west and Neukirchen in the east.
Geology and environment: Protected part of the landscape, Hinteres Filzenschartenmoos
The Filzental belongs to - beginning at Mittersill - Innsbruck Quarzphyllitkomplex which are phyllites and quartz Phylite (clay mica schist , Koralpe-Wölz-ceiling system ). The Kitzbühel Alps are heavily influenced by the Ice Age here.
The Taltobel is a typical Karsee complex silted up to form a high moor , which has formed here over the water-retaining phyllites. It is surrounded by extensive pine fields . In the bog area itself, round-leaved sundew , rosemary heather , cranberries , Scheidiges cottongrass and other sour grasses can be found, otherwise beak-sedge dominates in the wet areas . Several amphibian and dragonfly species are documented in the area.
The rear Filzenschartenmoos , which lies directly below the Filzenscharte, has been declared a protected part of the landscape with an area of 8.4854 hectares ( GLT 00118 , Ordinance 2005), a particularly strict protection status in Salzburg's nature conservation law.
Only the lowest 100 m, on the steep step into the Trattenbachtal, are enclosed by mountain forest .
Paths and tours
Through this valley you can climb to the Gamskogel ( 2206 m ) and Großer Rettenstein ( 2366 m ). Can exceed the Kitzbühel main ridge and passes through the through the Filzscharte Windauer Achental to Westendorf .
