Ecclesiastically, Finsterhaid belongs to the parish Lauterhofen in the Habsberg deanery .

On May 1, 1978, Engelsberg was incorporated into Lauterhofen with Nattershofen (town hall), Finsterhaid, Hillohe , Holzheim , Mantlach and Thürsnacht . The only monument is a forest edge chapel with a Lourdes grotto.
