Structure and meaning
After Kuwait gained independence in 1961, the pan-Arab colors were chosen for the national flag . With this, the state of Kuwait documented its solidarity with the Arab brother countries. The stripe with trapezoid arrangement is borrowed from the flag of the Kingdom of Iraq . In the case of Kuwait, the colors have the following meaning:
- Black is said to represent the defeat of the enemy on the battlefield and is a symbol of the dust that Kuwaiti horsemen stir up in the sands of the desert.
- Red symbolizes the blood of the enemy
- White represents the purity of deeds
- Green represents the fertile pastures

The red color of the old flags of Kuwait indicates the Kharijit religion. The Arabic lettering means "Kuwait".
