meaning
The national flag is of colors that make them with the flag of Iran the same and has the ethnic toward connectedness of these peoples. The fact that the arrangement of the colors corresponds to that of the flag of Hungary is a coincidence. While all stripes on the Hungarian flag are the same width, the middle white stripe on the Tajik flag is wider (red: white: green 2: 3: 2).
The following meanings are assigned to the colors:
- Green symbolizes the urgently needed agricultural cultivation in the few valleys and plains of the country dominated by mountains.
- White stands for cotton , the main wealth of the nation, as well as snow and ice on the mountains.
- Red is the color of the unity of the people and brotherhood with the nations of the world. Red was the basic color on the flags of all former Soviet Socialist Republics .
The crown probably indicates the country name Tajikistan , in which the word for crown is. The crown and stars symbolize the sovereignty of the country, friendship between all nationalities and the unity of workers, peasants and intellectuals.
history
During the times of the Soviet Union , the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic used the flag of the Soviet Union with a white and a green horizontal stripe, the national colors. Tajikistan was the last of the 15 Soviet republics to adopt this new form of the flags of the Soviet Republic on March 20, 1953. Before that, the flags of the Soviet republics had only the name of the republic below the hammer and sickle.
Compared to other successor states of the Soviet Union, it took the longest time to adopt a new national flag when it came to independence. Between 1991 and 1992 only the communist symbols hammer and sickle were removed.
