The Brunei flag was introduced on September 29, 1959.
Description and meaning
The national flag emerged from a pure yellow sultan's flag. In 1906 the black and white stripes were added, they stand for the leading viziers Pengiran Bendahara and Pengiran Pemanscha . When the constitution was introduced on September 29, 1959, the red emblem was added.
By law, the width of the white to the black stripe is in the ratio 17:15, that is, the white stripe is slightly wider.
