The airfield Stadtlohn-Vreden is an airfield in the district of Borken near the German-Dutch border .
It is classified as a commercial airfield. The airfield is located on the border between the towns of Vreden and Stadtlohn . Use ranges from commercial and non-commercial powered flight , glider flight , UL flight to parachuting.
The length of the runway is 1200 meters with a width of 30 meters.
Expansion plans
An intermunicipal industrial area is planned at the airfield, which is to have a runway extended to 1,800 meters in the medium term. However, the expansion is controversial in politics and the public. Therefore, the realization takes place in several phases: In September 2009 the runway was initially extended to a length of 1200 meters (previously: 980 meters) and a width of 30 meters (previously: 20 meters). It is not yet clear whether and when the extension of the remaining 600 meters can begin. In October 2010, four of the five existing taxiways were widened from 7.50 m to 10.50 m. In addition, the airfield received a sixth taxiway.
Airborne Air Show
In the past, the airfield was repeatedly the location of the Airborne trade fair , which was organized by the Stadtlohn airfield company.
